Mental illness may be part of us but we can never let it be all of us. It may knock us down but we must get back up. Each time we get up it gets a little easier. When you start accept, it becomes less frighting.

Mental Illness
That is so true coop. 😊
I agree with some of what your say but not all of it. Sounds like you need to do some research.I am coming out of my 6th horrible depression I am 75. Let me tell you it has not got easier, I just went thru another "Suicide Episode". I acted on those twice when I was young, then made a pact with myself "Suicide is Not an Option".
What most of us lay people do not know is about the neurotransmitters in our brain and how they can miss fire. Also we often lack certain chemicals that add to our misery. I have been on many in my life time. Some worked, some did not, some did until I built up a tolerance. Our medical system is finally catching up. In 2000 I was diagnosed as Bipolar 11. Never heard of it, I had a good friend who was Bipolar 1. Apparently Bipolar 11 was not figured out until 1995, years after my suffering. I also have Major Depression episodes (hence suicide ideas) and Anxiety with a touch of PTSD. What a lot for my brain to handle and ignorant me.
Thankfully I just found a new Dr. and now after a week I see an improvement, and we have agreed she will try to keep me balanced as we have longevity in our family. We have up t 95 in our Mother's family. My Father made it to 75, after years of alcohol abuse, another symptom of Mental Illness. I think I inherited it from him, it is often heredity that brings this on. Thankfully I am not a drinker, I will be 76 this year soon.
Acceptance is good in a lot of daily problems, but not necessary in severe medical problems.
Want more info. go on line and look it up, we have to educate each other and help cut down on the suffering.
