So I had anxiety attacks 22 years ago and was on paxil for a few weeks. Got off and have been moving along with very few attacks over those 22 years.

Here I am now...7 days and panic attacks all day long. Not sure what to do.

I’ve been to doc once. She said I need a vacation and to get back to the gym. Well that’s not helping because I’m so paranoid about leaving my house now.

Went to clinical psych. Appt yesterday and she gave me techniques to try. I had the worse day ever yesterday. Techniques are not working. I am considering meds. Just waiting on doctors response.

Sorry that you’re suffering and I hope knowing that you’re not alone helps some. I am medicated and it keeps the attacks away. But my overall sense of doom is always there. I am withdrawing socially more and more and find difficulty relating to people. I can’t understand the dumb things they worry about when I am constantly swinging at shadows that can’t be beaten. It’s a lonely and sad place.

That's a pretty good track record Zel33 in having only a few anxiety attacks in over a 22year period. Sounds like these past 7 days of Panic Attacks are coming from a different issue. Depending what caused the panic attacks within the last 7 days, taking a vacation is only goinig to help if you are overly physically distressed or mentally distressed . If there is a cause to this panic, that needs to be addressed because you can't run away from it. You need to find a solution to your fears or accept a different way in reacting to the stress.

Using methods that your psychologist suggested takes time and practice. Because panic attacks are more intense in severity, it might not be a bad idea to take some medication for a short amount of time while you seek out this therapy from the psychologist. They can work hand in hand in finding a solution to your attacks. Once the medication gets you down to a more stable place in your mind, you will better be able to accept the methods in going forward.

Don't give up. Keep going forward and you will reach your goal. xx

Sorry to hear of your struggle! I suggest medication to help you through as you figure out what is causing this. Is there a situation that may have triggered it? Or a health issue? I know for me in my 40's things got bad and I'm guessing hormonal changes have caused it. But that was gradual, not just in one week.
