I've been reading some of these posts, and to be completely honest I feel likewise. I constantly put myself down, and compare myself to others. I'll say I'm fat, my nose is too wide, my teeth are huge, etc. I despise taking pictures. If possible, I will avoid at all costs. I don't feel comfortable in my skin. thx!!

Anonymous909, body shaming is painful enough when someone else does it to us so why do it to yourself?? Your biggest mistake is comparing yourself to others, friend. Take a look at your hands, the fingerprints you see, your palm print; it’s unique, there’s only one set of your identifying features meaning there’s only one incomparable version of you. Focus on all your positive traits, characteristics you love about yourself. When you make a great choice, treat yourself and tell yourself, I’m proud of myself for making the best decision possible. Personal positive reinforcement will teach you how to focus on the positives rather than dwell on the negatives. Eat well, sleep well, laugh your ass off every opportunity you get and most importantly love yourself. And hey, take pictures of yourself and send them to your family or people you know love you and see how they feel about you sharing your pictures with them! I’m sure they’ll be super happy =)
Same. But I’m working on it and making huge strides! In my experience the better my self talk is, the better I treat myself and the more likely I am to make positive healthy choices.
To take notes from Kati Morton (a psychologist on YouTube), when those destructive thoughts come up, think of something positive to counteract that thought with, even if you think it’s bs at the time. Like, for example, my biggest point of self hatred is that I think I’m so fat. Then I’ll look at my big cheeks and my legs and start spiraling down the self hatred tube. But if I change those thoughts from “ugh eww I’m so fat no one will love me if I’m this fat” to, “yeah I might be a few pounds over my goal weight, but I’m making strides every day to get healthier and I’ve already lost weight which means I’ll live a longer life and I’ll get to see more beauty that life has to offer.”
As corny and unhelpful as it sounds, if I stop my thoughts in their tracks and cognitively find a way to spin it around, eventually I don’t have to do it manually, and the self love comes in automatically. And a person with self love is always more beautiful and radiant to be around than someone with crippling self hatred. (Plus typing this all out reminded me too to chill out and take it easy on myself so pats on the back all around here 😆)
tysm!! i will definitely do that whenever I feel terrible about myself. I also feel fat and that my legs are gigantic but I am trying to learn to love myself and that not everyone looks like a model on the cover of a magazine!
The models on the covers of magazines don’t even look like that in real life!! Lol! That’s what’s so misleading about all this media nonsense. You be you, love yourself and all your imperfections!
