Good morning to everyone! Anyone suffer from crippling anxiety that causes agorophobia?? The only time I leave my apt is to go to walmart or the Drs every two months! Ugh. Sometimes I go for a walk but not often. I walked a mile yesterday which felt great!! Anyone have the same symptoms?

Yes I do. The trouble is home and having to eat means even home isn't a "safe place" for me.

Congratulations on doing so well yesterday. You deserve to be proud.

Yes, a few weeks ago I even refused to leave the house! Fortunately I have a great therapist and she helped me gather the strength to push myself. I’ve driven for hours, gone to a restaurant, gone shopping, and hung out with friends since then. All of these things made me feel awful and anxious and so panicky, but little by little, facing it is taking away its power. It’s probably not what you want to hear, given that there really is not simple fix and facing anxiety is very difficult, but it’s possible and we’re all here to support you and help you through this.

Thanks so much. I'm glad you've gotten past your anxiety. That's great. Mines so severe and its been like this for decades. Maybe ill try a therapist. I never believe anything they say so not sure if that would work. Ugh.

My therapist specializes in anxiety and panic disorders, so luckily I can put my trust in her when she says to do things that I don’t want to or that are difficult. I hope you find something soon that works for you!

I would strongly recommend that you see a psychiatrist I had severe anxiety and agoraphobia and with the help of my doc was able to recover maybe 90%. A psychiatrist is the best choice since he or she can prescribe meds if it is appropriate for your case. You can get well! It can take a while and it won’t be easy, but it’s up to you. Best of luck.
