Hello everyone. i am new to this, never had done anything like this. i miss my group therapy sessions and since i don't have any healthcare right now, i am trying this out. sooooo yeah.

Well, hello and welcome. Perhaps you would like to share a bit about you, what was helpful in your group therapy and what you are missing by not attending it now. There are many ears in this forum willing to listen. :)

Hi vilmizzy, Welcome to the forum. I think you will be pleasantly surprised on this close knit group of men and women of all ages. We share our life's journey with anxiety, depression and life situations. It's a safe and comforting place to come when we feel so alone and in need of understanding. I am 23 years old and i have been diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety almost a year and a half ago. my journey through this has been like a roller coaster. i have managed to keep afloat some days and others, not too well. I miss my group therapy because i was able to voice my insecurities and concerns. no judged you or thought bad of you. we all had issues and as crazy as our fears were, we understood each other. i also liked the togetherness. it was like my own personal support system. we learned so much. every time that i was there, i took away something important. i just wish that i could go back and attend those sessions but at the moment i know that i cannot. luckily, my boyfriend has been an AMAZING support system for me but i do not want to keep asking him to be there every time i have a bump on the road. i know that he would, but i just want to be able to handle this on my own. i don't want him to get fed up.

vilmizzy, I understand and feel you are lucky to have a supportive boyfriend. I'm hoping you will find that this group even though virtual will help replace that intimate, confident feeling in expressing your fears and concerns without any judgment.

We are all experiencing the daily ups and downs of anxiety, some with depression as well. I like to think that we do take away something from each and every member on the forum. What works for one person, may not for another but at least it gives us some options as to what is out there.

I pick up something new everyday, most of all the kindness expressed by the group gives us what we need most in support and that is the caring behind it.

As for myself, I was agoraphobic for 5 years, have had tons of therapy (over the phone) as well as once having been on medication. I have found my way and no longer stuck in the cycle of fear. I found that through accepting that anxiety is not harmful. My thoughts may make me think it is but once you learn to accept it as nothing but a negative thought, you will go forward. Slow steps at first, leading to anxiety being left behind in the dust. Through this group, you will hear about books and videos that you can research which will help immensely in finding yourself and gaining back control of your life.
