Bipolar depression

I’m a stay at home mom of two, I’m 34 years young, yet feel twice my age! I have had anxiety and depression since 19. I was just wondering if anyone else experiences what I call “bipolar depression” because I have weeks/months that I have no depression symptoms at all and then months/weeks that my depression is so bad, literally debilitating and I don’t know why this happens or anything that triggers my depression episodes! Can anyone relate?

Thx for responding, yes I see my doctors regularly and I am on medication for my anxiety, I’ve tried every depression medication and they only make my symptoms worse. My psychologist has diagnosed me with anxiety and depression but not dysthymia, I explain that it comes and goes but has never changed my diagnosis! I’ll have to read up on dysthymia! I also have adhd and my medication for that helps my depression better than all of the depression medications! My doctor said he heard that a lot!

jaymee, Hello, I have what my psychiatrist diagnosed as by polar II, it comes and it goes, I do not get the high; but the severe depression. I would search in you area for a Psychiatrist who is competent in in Bi-polar as there are 2 /3 types. I am on Lithium and it helps a Lot. Don't suffer, search, good luck Sprinkle 1

Thank u, I don’t get extreme highs either, I just have normal months and then bad months! I’ve been prescribed lithium before and my mom was concerned about it so she paid out of pocket for me to see a private psychiatrist and he told me that I didn’t need to be on lithium so I stopped taking it and I didn’t get better but I didn’t get any worse either! I’m lucky to have the best group of doctors, and they all work together to make sure I’m doing the best I can be! Like I said before I’ve been dealing with this since 19 and I’ve tried almost every antidepressants out there and they only make me feel worse so lately I’ve been trying to find natural things I can do to cope with the bad times! I am on an anxiety medication and that helps a ton with my anxiety which allows me to focus on my depression! But thanks for your advice!! I also have hypothyroidism and I’m starting to realize that when I’m having a hard time my thyroid medication does usually needs to be adjusted!
