I started taking gabapentin several weeks ago, I'm currently at 300mg 3× a day. I've read that you should limit or avoid drinking alcohol on gabapentin but I'm just wondering if anyone has experience or insight on this? I'm not planning on drinking for a while still and not very heavily either but would still like to know for the future.

Gabapentin and alcohol?
I have been on gabapentin for chronic pain with neurological asoects for several years. Occasionally I will have a beer or a glass of wine, with food. Anything more or anything on an empty stomach makes me pretty miserable. So don't expect to do much partying unless you can do so mostly sober. In my experience the warnings are spot on. But then I've always been a lightweight. Proceed with caution.
Thanks!
Lowkeyloki, Glad you asked, I was on it for a while and it did not fit with me. I have a Pill Book, and look up meds in there (put out by (Bantam) I am on the 9th edition now and would not be without one. Gabapentin comes with warnings for Kidneys & Liver, other things too and says not to use alcohol. I hate the drugs that say that as I have been a wine drinker since a Dr. put me on it years ago, when I had IBS. So dear sufferer be careful. I wish you well, sending Peace, serenity and good health. p.s. You can look up meds on line to.
