Is the recommendation from your doctor to move to Zoloft? They are just such different medications. So strange how we all react differently. I'm on 600 mgs 3x a day and it doesn't phase me at all. Doesn't make me sleepy which I wish it did. I am sorry for your loss and hopeful for your wife. I am glad you are coming to this forum. I know plenty of people on Zoloft for depression and they say it works. Our body chemistry defines the meds that help though. Don't give up. Zoloft would take some time to kick in, I think.

Thank you brother Magnesium is helping so I am looking for something to add and get off gabapentin, You see so many good and bad comments when trying to determine which way to go. When I went to look at Zoloft I saw that it could take months. It appears that many times you only get the negative side. I have tapered down to 100mg of gabapentin and taking magnesium, I will review zoloft. Tks Brody Texas

I take 400 mgs at a time. They are dirt cheap on amazon. Usually comes in 100-200 mg doses. Strangely it helps me sleep and stay awake. L theanine is growing in popularity because it targets your focus. It's almost like it takes your mind away from the "action" or "situation" that is trying to mess with you and make you anxious.

I did not know Gabapentin was for depression. I have been taking it after my knee replacement for nerve pain. I took Zoloft for 25 years until it finally wore out on me and I had to try a new antidepressant. After many months of trial and error, I am now on Buproprion and Lexapro and have been fine for 3 years now.

sorry for your loss. For me gabapentin made me feel like a zombie. And it really didn’t help my depression much. I had good results with Zoloft.

I also had bad side effects from the Gabapentin. I felt so much better with my anxiety after I stopped it and all my side effects went away.

I tried gabapentin for a few months but it really did nothing for my anxiety and depression. I never had any side effects and sorry to hear it has bad side effects and is not working for you. Hopefully Zoloft gives you some relief. Gabapentin is widely prescribed for a number of things, anxiety , depression, nerve pain. As with most of the meds they work for some and not others. Interesting fact, our family cat recently had cancer and we had to have her put down which was very sad, but the vet prescribed her gabapentin for pain for the last month she was with us.

I can't say anything about Gabapentin because I've never been on it. It's for anxiety and depression. And it's also prescribed to animals. My dog used to take 30mg cause when she got old, car rides would scare her. Anyways I was once on Zoloft and had some side effects. Weight gain and boils. Not to mention I felt like a zombie.

Most SSRIs as they are called do take time to get into your system. Usually about 3 months give or take. Also they have a 50/50 shot at working. Because we are dealing with brain chemistry now. Some folks will respond to it and others not. And you have to try another like Lexapro (which I was on about 20mg once a day for few years. The come off of it wasn't that hard on me). However it's not meant to be a cure all. You might see some improvement. Really it's a tool to use with the combination of therapy. To help you get to the raw uncomfortable feelings and help you open up with your therapist or grief counseling. And usually I feel like doctors don't explain that part to their patients. They just write the prescription. To be fair to general family doctors they don't know much about psychotherapy. They know a little. Enough to give you a prescription for antidepressants. But they don't explain to their patients that they may not feel like its working because therapy is also needed. And patients may have unrealistic expectations like they take this and they will no longer be depressed. And that's not how it works. Anyways talk to your doctor about maybe getting a referral to a psychiatrist. Talk to that psychiatrist about med switching and what you been dealing with as far as side effects. See if they can find you something better.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure you are probably tired of hearing that. I do not know what it's like to lose a spouse and a child. I did lose my brother sometime ago. And it affected my mom very deeply. My sincerest condolences to you, sir.

Wishing you healing and love 🫂 ❤️

Thank you for replying, I was once on Escitia pram when my dog died from cancer and it made me walk around like a zombie. I once asked a doctor what's up with anxiety drugs causing zombie feelings. He said the medication they prescribed dose was too high. Anyway A Lot of my anxiety came from too many continuous anxious situations in a row. So i was put on gabapentin which helped with the anxiety but my walking and short term memory from Gabapentin became a real problem. So I Am searching for a way to curb my anxiety while getting off gabapentin, Again Thank You BrdyTxas
