Getting off meds

I really want to get off my drugs but I'm so scared. I see my psychiatrist on tues.

It is great that you feel well enough to attempt to reduce the medication.

DO NOT go "cold turkey".

Medical supervision is required for a gradual discontinuation or reduction (taper) of a therapeutic dose of a particular drug required by a patient over a long period of time.

Work with your health care provider to formulate a plan that is right for you.

INTOLERABLE SYMPTOMS usually means that the taper is too steep or too fast. You should then resume the previous drug dose at which you felt stable and continue it until the symptoms disappear. Then start again the taper but with a smaller dose reduction (such as 5%).
