Some advice please

Hi all, I was on sertiline for 3 weeks for my anxiety, returned to the doctors yesterday and he's put me on prananolol 20 mg twice a day, he thinks this would be better for me. My question is, is anyone else on this medication for anxiety, I started taking it yesterday and feel a bit weird, can't put my finger on it. Feel a bit spacey and just weird, I've got a headache and my legs feel a bit wobbly, also feel nausious. Is this side affects??, and if so how long until they settle down. Thank you for taking time to read my post. Just feel I need some positive input.

I was given that once to help with my anxiety shakes, don't remember any problems with it though, may just need getting used to it.

Have you read the side effects info in the packet ??

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply, yes I read the leaflet, wish I hadn't😳 Were they helpful, and how long was it before you felt any benefit from them. I worry about anything and everything right now, so it's just probably me.

Take care and thank you once again

It was a while ago, but I'm sure they helped within a week or so.

I'm with you on the worry front, it's my middle name and it can suck.

Likewise :-)

If you mean sertraline, it takes quite a few weeks to take full effect. My personal opinion is that you needed to be on it longer to get the full benefit. However, the prananolol may well be right for you. All medications have side effects initially, but they generally don't last. I'd give it a chance to work first, and if it doesn't, try a different doctor. GP's generally don't have the expertise for this sort of thing, and a psychiatrist does. Anxiety has caused me major problems so I have an idea what you're going through. Don't give up, keep trying till you find what works for you.
