Hello, After being Married for 26yrs, 2 adult children and now divorced, I have to learn how to take care of me and not be depressed everyday..it's hard not to say negative things to myself..I have been on anti depressants for 3 yrs now and they have stopped working, I have been referred to see a psychiatrist this month in hopes of her finding out the root cause and help with the right meds..

Dealing with depression
You're right to see your doc for a med change. They can stop working. Maybe just a dose adjustment? For me, being divorced with grown children left me thinking "what am I supposed to do with myself now?". That may not be your experience (I even catch myself saying negative thoughts out loud) but I am working on ways to use all this free time that I dreamed of having just years ago. I'm not there just yet but I hope you find something that works for you.
Hi,
Here is the link to a great article when your meds aren't working

Volunteering is a good way to get you out of the house and doing something for other people if you feel up to it.
Good web link. Useful information. Google Steven Ilardi and natural antidepressants to get specific advice on non medicine supports. It covers Diet, Exercise, Omega3, Sleep, sunlight exposure etc. The long you tube video very helpful and insightful.
Hello kinikia95
I have been on Zoloft, cymbalta, Wellbutrin and now I am on Effexors and all of them have stopped working.. my doctor set an appointment up with a psychiatrist now to see if she can find something that works, in the meantime I have put on 30 pounds due to stress and the weight gain is causing a lot anxiety.. appointment is on August 14, seem like a long way off..
