This is my worst symptom of anxiety , dreaded vertigo .... I look drunk when I'm walking .. horrible experience .... I hold on to things as I'm walking ...
I went to the doctor stating it was my anxiety, I'm on fluoxetine for anxiety , it takes about 3 weeks to kick in perhaps a bit longer for anxiety. I'm still waiting 3 weeks.
The meds can raise your anxiety initially, but I use a antihistime called Atarax to settle my tummy and calm myself.
But the vertigo I absolutely hate. Every morning i wake up thinking perhaps it's my neck and I'm tending up, so I try exercise, then I think perhaps it's my sinuses, then take a sudafed, then I think perhaps I'm overbreathing so I practice breathing techniques. Still off balance so I take a bihistimine for vertigo it increases the pressure slightly in ears. Just taken one now ... they do help a little ..... so it must be anxiety related I think !
Hi there is a treatment for vertigo that involves exercises, also there has been some success with this type of treatment. Try asking your GP about it, it would require a referral from your doctor to an ENT Consultant if he/she felt it would benefit you. Your GP would be the best person to assess if it would suit you.
I had bouts of vertigo where I was bedridden for hours and barely left the bed except to use the bathroom. I was weak, lightheaded and slept on and off for the majority of a day. There were already two or three bouts since the beginning of the year and dread it ever happening again.
