I have struggled with depression most of my life but have always been leery of getting a diagnosis for insurance and job reasons.

Are you military? What kind of work do you do? I've had a diagnosis since I was 16 but it never follows me anywhere. I wish it did because anytime Ive had to change practitioners, it's a process to always start over again.

You aren't alone in feeling that way, but for what it's worth, I've never had problems with insurance or employers over my health records. I don't think it's even legal. There are a lot of people out there in counseling and taking meds who work and use their insurance. I do understand your concerns, though - that stigma is still there, unfortunately.
