Anxiety Tension

I've been suffering with anxiety for a while now, never this bad. I've gotten my body so tensed up it hurts. Are there any meds that have a combination of anxiety/relaxing help. I am on Zoloft 50mg now . I have PTSD, anxiety, depression and OCD.

This is a good question for your doctor. You could go on a muscle relaxer. But it would be worth your while to get your anxiety covered 1st and see how comfortable you are before adding anything else. Once your anxiety is under control, you might find you relax just fine.

No, I don't know of a drug that'll do exactly what you want but I suspect there might be one that gets rid of your anxiety and then your body just might relax due to that reduced anxiety. Right now you're asking a lot from just 50 mg of Zoloft. Do you have a call out to report to your doctor that you have anxiety and muscle pain? He/she can't get the dose right without your feedback. Call in the am and leave a message with the office staff for the doc if you haven't already. Best of good luck to you. I wish you well.

I've told my doctor about the tension pain in my neck. Just gave me exercises to do. I will give Zoloft more time it's only been 10 days. Just hope and pray this pain and pressure will go away

You are right to wait. Zoloft needs 4-6 weeks to fully see it working. Before that it hasn't reached it's peak performance. I had no idea you were on it for so little time. I, too, hope the pain and pressure go away. Have you thought about a deep, nueromuscular massage? That would relieve a lot of your pain. If you do go, plan to keep your day clear after the massage and relax and take the rest of your day easy or you'll just tense up and lose the benefits from the massage.

Actually I sleep well ( I think) but it takes me 2-3 hours to fall asleep because of pain and the noise/ pressure in my left ear. Going to counseling tomorrow to see about relaxing techniques. Thanks for the advice

Have you told your Dr. that you are having trouble falling asleep? You could be prescribed something that will help you fall asleep for awhile, just temporarily, not permanently. 2-3 hours to fall asleep is way too long and is wasting a lot of time right now. I don't recommend ambien because people have gotten up and talked and walked around and watched TV and never knew that they did these things when they got up in the morning. That's dangerous.

Hopefully in time it will all disappear. I saw a counselor today so should start getting into therapy for the attacks. No w they switched my meds to take them in the morning instead of at bedtime. Wonder if I'm going to get any rest!

I wonder, too. But switching to morning sounds like they suspect your meds are interfering with your sleep. I hope that is all that's keeping you from your rest.

Yes because I've always been a good sleeper. But I'm going to give it a shot. Just sooo tired of feeling this way.

Well went to a chiropractor today. He said pressure in my ear is due to my neck. I find out tomorrow if I have pinched nerve or what. This was much needed news because that pressure in my ear brought on my anxiety so bad, in turn made me get tensed all the time. It felt like a weight was moved off my shoulders. Have a while to go but just so relieved. Still on my Zoloft 50mg still getting anxious so I go to doc on the 7th so don't know if she will increase or not.

I'm glad the news relieved your fears. It's amazing how much tension we can have over 1 symptom in an ear.

Well pressure in my ear hasn't stopped yet. Couple of massive attacks. Doc increased my Zoloft to 100mg. All my labs came back normal so that's good. Got dizzy first thing this morning and later this afternoon. Doc seems to think it is sinus related especially ear pressure. I see my primary doctor tomorrow and I'm going to demand answers. Just so ready to be me again.

I don't blame you. I hope you get them.

Well doc said pressure in ear was allergy related. All of my blood work came back prefect. So maybe I can try to be less anxious. Just praying he's right.

Well ER visit again. Was getting dizzy when laying down. They did CT scan all came back normal. She said the pressure I'm hearing in my ear was eutachian tube disfunction. Also diagnosed me with benign postisional vertigo in left ear. Still getting anxiety attacks in evening and I am up to 100mg Zoloft. What other med could I take in addition to Zoloft to control the anxiety. Ambien Adivant or Xanax?
