Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!

I am a 32 year old female and have GAD, and Depression for some time now. It worsened after I had a baby a few years ago, and needed to be put on a few medications. I had severe post pardum depression. I'd like to have another child someday, but worry I will go through ppd again (it was very very severe to say the least), and I would have to get off a few of my medications for sure during the pregnancy. Anyways, has anyone gone through anything similar? Does anyone here worry about getting pregnant with your anxiety or depression issues? Any support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

  • I've been severely anxious and depressed without being pregnant and delivering my sons. I would be even MORE concerned if my problems came from delivering my sons. I don't blame you for being concerned. I've been treated successfully for 29 years for depression and GAD--generalized anxiety disorder--- and I've had no problems after I delivered my 3 sons. I can surely relate to your concern after getting very depressed and anxious PP.

Have you talked to your psych Dr. about this? I would want the meds ready to go at delivery at the 1st sign of a problem. Maybe even started before delivery?? I'd have this all worked out with the Doc. I know there are antidepressants that women have taken throughout pregnancies. There has to be a way to either take the meds or not get pregnant. It's better to know your choices than to wonder and not know. Best of luck to you!

  • What medications have worked for you?

  • Prozac/fluoxetine, tranxene/clorazepate, Klonopin/clonazepam, Savella, Cymbalta/duloxetine, Seroquel/quetiapine, Lamictal/lamotrigine.
