My pace and ablate journey part 3

Well here we are, 6 weeks and 6 days after the pacemaker was inserted and how time flies! Not a lot to report. The wound has healed and only a tiny scar remains. Skin around the site a bit itchy and sensitive. But now given the all clear to use my left arm and shoulder normally again, huge relief.

The final node ablation will take place tomorrow afternoon, 7 weeks post pm. Had the pre-op assessment telephone conversation last week and attended the pacing clinic this Tuesday . Two very nice young technicians and an electrophysiologist checked the pm and clattered lots of clicks on computer keyboards, while exchanging verbal data and numbers as I lounged in a comfy chair. A lot of mention of algorithms. No doubt all the techies on this site will know what was going on, but I didn’t, and don’t think I needed to. All my questions were answered. e.g “What will happen if I take Ventolin afterwards? II avoid it if possible as it makes my heart race”. Answer “Nothing. You won’t have a heart beat”. Scary stuff but everyone keeps reassuring me it will be all right.

So it’s off to the hospital for a 12 noon appointment tomorrow, hopefully I will be home early evening. No anticoagulant today or tomorrow, and no diuretic tomorrow either for obvious reasons. Now just have to remember to get up early and down a light breakfast before 7.30 am. Toast and banana seems a sustaining option!

To be continued . . .

did they tell you you could eat? I was never allowed to eat after midnight sometimes even earlier depending on the time of my procedure. The only medication I could take was my diabetic and a little bit of water. Please double check if you can and it’s not too late now. FYI, even my pets are not allowed to eat after midnight when having a procedure not that I’m comparing you to them lol

it’s also a question for your doctor about Ventolin. Others. out here probably use. it as well and could tell you I have not been on an inhaler for years, but even before a fib, my heart would race.please get answers. In fact, I know according to Tracy and you can make a call to the knowledgeable people on here.

the biggest thing for you to do when it’s over is as little as possible pamper yourself and I don’t mean just for the night. It’s going to be a long healing between my pacemaker and AV note for was almost a year. That doesn’t mean you will be suffering, but you are going to be feeling things and if they didn’t tell you even with a pacemaker, you are going to feel a fib and sometimes unless you’re one of the lucky ones. Someone forgot to tell and I was a wreck until my EP told he was not happy to know I wasn’t aware. i’m sure many people would say it’s his job to tell me, but they’re pretty busy doing what they do for us. They have a team and the OR and elsewhere for a reason. My EP and his nurse always took good care of just like everything you can’t depend on everyone

keep that left arm still I am Italian. I always say I talk with my hands. It’s true you could tell if you saw the number of things I have knocked over lol one of the nurses in the hospital suggested someone safety pin my sleeve to the side of me

overall I hope you are like me and feel so wonderful that the little things you might deal with during are going to seem like nothing for the most part. I just felt normal and it was things like being able to wash the dishes or take my dog out made me so happy

thinking of you and happy you are on your way back to a quality of life that you probably lost like many of us during a fib

I couldn’t eat after 7,30 , Dawn , So I didn’t. Procedure not until 3.30 so it was a long fast.
