Magnesium taurate & Vit C

I've had A Fib for 5 years. I had an unsuccessful ablation about 2 years ago.

About 6 months ago I started taking a daily supplement of magnesium taurine & another of Vitamin C. I had read that either of these can be helpful with AF

I've taken them consistently & to my surprise my episodes of A fib have noticeably decreased ! I was having intervals of about 8 days but recently I went for nine weeks with just one episode !

I am taking flecainide ( 2 a.m & one p.m) & when I do get an episode I take an extra Flecainide (no more than 4 in 24hrs) & I have found that the length of time that takes to put me back to sinus rhythm is also less than it used to be.

I'm so pleased with this positive improvement while I wait for a 2nd ablation.

I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience.

That sounds good news Jam.

Flec works wonders BUT are you on a small amount of beta blocker too. If not discuss this with your medic.

Now a word of warning about Flec. You say you take up to 4 in 24 hours - what dose are you on ? 300 mg is the max you can take in 24 hours - anymore than that and you risk flutter as well.

This is not medicial advice but just something to discuss with your doctor. I would also talk about a small amount of beta blocker too (looking back). If you are taking 50 mg per tab then no worries but 100 mg times 4 is to much.

I am not a doctor so this is just is a suggestion to discuss with your medic.

Sounds good to me Jam - like I say though I am not a medic. Good luck with the second ablation. You'll get there I just know it. Make sure you totally relax after for at least a few weeks and I think you'll beat it. Why do I say that ?

"I was having intervals of about 8 days but recently I went for nine weeks with just one episode"

That's why. If another ablation hits the spot then I think you'll crack it. I really wish you all success with it. You can do it for sure.

Positive attitude and you'll might well crack this nut.

Loads of best with it.

Try adding 200mgs CoQ10 for even better results & test your Mg & CoQ10 levels (using BioLab London) after 6 months aiming to be in the top quartile of the accepted range; but check first with a good Alternative Practitioner and run it past your GP for the usual raised eyebrows! I have been doing that plus Flecainide & other lifestyle changes for many years and no AF.

Could you elaborate on the lifestyle changes? I’ve done a lot of things to change my lifestyle but I know I still eat some things that I shouldn’t.

The best plan would be to search this Forum for 'Lifestyle' as there are so many! I have been making changes constantly for 8 years; I treat it as a journey without a final destination. I am constantly surprised how far we have all gone down the wrong road and the obvious 'policemen' are doing nothing to turn us around. Also there is a chapter in 'The AFIB Cure' by John Day entitled 'Lifestyle Optimisation'.

Thank you, I’ll have a look. I guess the best way to look at it is as a journey, as you say, and keep trying!

Yes you're right supplier is important. For CoQ10 I rely on lambertshealthcare.co.uk/vi... who I believe have a good name.

What have they told you regarding a second ablation? Have you got a date? Glad things have improved but would be great to eliminate the AF altogether with a successful second ablation. Good luck

HiNo news yet although the arrythmia nurse told me the hospital have taken on two more cardiologists so that will effectively double their efficiency, Fingers crossed.

Hi Jamflake, I'm delighted to read your positive experience from using Magnesium.I started on daily Magnesium Taurate around 9 months ago and have also found that my episodes of PAF are MUCH reduced.

I should also mention that I am very careful to avoid my PAF triggers. IE- avoiding excess sugars, alcohol, aged cheese and dehydration.

Fingers crossed that it continues to work for us and others!

Thankyou. Alcohol & late meal times are my triggers , but since the Magnesium I found I was able to have a couple of glasses of prosecco at Christmas with no ill effects !!

Hi. Can I ask if you are taking the magnesium and if you are also on anti coagulants. I ask this because want to know if it’s safe to take both ? Regards

I've been taking magnesium and Apixaban for two years (ever since I had a stroke) I've been almost totally free of SVT lately. I'm 78 and exercise a lot.

All the best.

Hi Jamflake, Magnesium (and other supplements) helped me go from very regular and chronic PAF to a life free of ectopics and AF! Please read my story:

healthunlocked.com/afassoci...............

I am sure that they key supplements for me are magnesium and Ubiquinol. As you can read, I experimented with dosage until I got it right. My EP is aware of my supplements and is nominally supportive but does not want me to reduce the Solatol intake.

I didn't get much improvement until I started drinking water, clear water, 48-64 ounces per day without fail, in addition to any other fluids I took ordinarily (coffee, meds, etc). Also, I regularized doses. I took 50 mg twice a day, 12 hours apart; 50 mg 8 hours apart. I would have taken four doses 6 hours apart if I had gotten to that dose. I would take no more than what is the recommended max dose daily but at regular intervals. Just adding a dose never helped me if I did not continue that dose indefinitely.

With proper hydration, I was able to cancel my ablation. I was in persistent Afib. I have not had an episode in 2+ years. I did not have any other heart disease. I take 225 mg of Propafenone (I switched meds) twice daily as maintenance; however, it is essentially the same kind of drug as Flec.

I have never been able to stop these doses but I have never added one. At the time of starting water, it was hard to gag it all down but now I love the water and I found my body demands it or I am thirst as hell. I am up at night to pee more often but I was anyway. I hope this helps. Everything else I tried was no help.

Johns Hopkins does an annual Afib medical update available on UTube. It is the most valuable source of information I have even encountered. They are harvesting new study results continuously.

Best to you.

Congrats on your success !

Which medication are you referring to in the above statement ? And which medication in addition to water intake do your credit for your success ?

Thanks !
