My usual mag taurate tablets (cardiovascular research Ltd) we’re out of stock for a few weeks so I managed to purchase another brand (Tom Oliver) they are 600mg of mag taurate (I usually take 4 x 125mg a day of my usual brand - so not hugely different) the new ones we’re very reasonably priced - has anyone ever used this brand before, just looking for some feedback - thanks 👍

Hi yes I took this Tom Oliver one and thought it was very high dose but decided that the range of vitamins they did seemed good. I took it at Christmas last year and it caused me to have AF on and off all the time over the Christmas holidays. Didn't work out it was the magnesium until my partner pointed out he didn't think it was stress and could be the tablets. I thought how can it be the magnesium because it is meant to be good for the heart. But he was right and within a day of stopping them no more atrial for a long time. It caused me about ten episodes which wasn't pleasant. You could always cut them or half the contents? Sorry to not be positive about it but I am very sensitive to magnesium and don't think I tolerate it well. Where as you said you usually take a high dose so you could try them and see what happens. Also on Amazon where I bought them one review said they ended up in hospital with an attack. Maybe they are just too many mg in one go. I don't want you to worry through maybe you can split them and take half the dose and see how you go. You will be used to that much in mg so it may be fine for you.😊

Cardiovascular Research Ltd magnesium taurate are 850mg of which 125mg is available when ingested. ( capsule size is 00 ) ( 000 is the biggest )
It appears that Tom Oliver is quoting the capsule size , at a guess size 0 to get 600mg.
Thanks for reply, by those calcs I can assume that the available amount is about 15% of the total figure so these tablets may only be about 90mg of available mag, I wouldn’t want to assume this though and take a number of them in case the 600mg is available although I agree that this is unlikely based on the size of the capsule
I had a bit of a panic as we approached lockdown that my usual supplier of the cardiovascular research Ltd did not have any in stock. I ended up taking a punt with iherb.com. I had seen them recommended on this forum previously.
They turned up 10 days after ordering, before my existing supply had run out
It was actually the usual brand cardio research ltd that I bought. Just got it from a different supplier, so exactly the same product. iherb are based in the US so just choose your preferred shipping method at the checkout
