Apixaban and Antibiotics

Has anyone taken Apixaban with the antibiotic Amoxicillin Trihydrate? I am interested in whether the antibiotic over increases the effectiveness of Apixaban, or whether there are any other potential impacts? Thanks. TerryW.

Talk top your pharmacist about that as it is all rather new. Antibiotics do affect warfarin but apixaban works in a different way.. Since there are no tests for NOACs there may be no data.

Thanks rosyG. There was nothing relevant in the notes that came with Apixaban. The only item on line (one) was that antibiotics could increase the effectiveness of Apixaban. I checked with the chemist as BobD suggested and got a negative answer regarding any interactions. I am three tablets into Apixaban and seven tablets into the antibiotics, and apart from the occasional feeling of nauseous (probably the antibiotics) I appear as normal as I will ever be!

I did take Eliquis with Bactrim, but just for a few days. I had to stop because my blood pressure went way too low - 66/54. Eliquis alone has been giving me low blood pressure. I found out from a pharmacist that Bactrim drops the blood pressure too. With Eliquis alone the drop in blood pressure is tolerable, but sometimes uncomfortable. With both the drugs dropping it low, my heart wasn't feel too well. I'm finding a lot of antibiotics interact with Eliquis...
