Lots of you have mentioned how good magnesium is. I have looked in Holland and Barratt and there are so many different varieties and strengths -help! What should I be taking?

Hi I have been meaning to get around to responding however what seems like a couple of small questions opens up a world of different options. I will try and get to doing a summary of what I have learnt so far but am ready for bed big time.

What I WOULD suggest is that you read through this particular post as there is a lot of valuable information being passed around in this one and should answer your questions.

Keep an eye out during reading this for mentions of magnesium orotate - its kind of the other side of the magnesium coin that is rarely mentioned but is also very important.

All I will say is that apart from not AF'img since I started seriously supplementing on magnesium, may depression has completely lifted, my energy levels have returned, my libido is coming back, I feel sharper and more with it...and the only thing I have done has been putting in magnesium:)

This link was supplied by someone else to me and its a real good magnesium explanation - definitely worth a read to understand how incredibly important this under rated nutrient is in our bodies.

Thank you for such a comprehensive reply. I'll study everything then make a trip back to the shop.

I take "Doctors Best" and am pleased to see it's listed as a 'good' form of Magnesium. It's American but you can buy it online e.g. Amazon, eBay. The "Solgar" version was also recommended but I recently read a comment that their formulation has changed and it now contains an undisclosed proportion of magnesium oxide which is the least helpful form of Magnesium.

Thank you got that information. I'm going to have an 'Amazon' weekend to see what's for sale - quite daunting, hence my post. Best wishes. Jenny

I had to laugh!!! The first bit says:

Magnesium is found in a wide variety of foods, such as:

•green leafy vegetables – such as spinach

I know I am one of a small % who has some sort of intolerance and has been told to stay off green vegetables and salad to try and help INR stabilisation.

Not what you're looking for?
