A lot of members on this forum have found that magnesium helps calm their heart rate and take it daily, often it's alongside taurine. This was recommended by a cardiologist Sanjay Gupta who works at York hospital in the UK. He found that his patients reported feeling better through taking magnesium and taurine, it can be bought and taken separately or there is a magnesium that comes combined with taurine.
I take magnesium glycinate from Your Supplements alongside Solgar's taurine and feel better for doing so.
Others will soon be along to tell you what they use.

Hi Jean,
Thank you so much for sharing your magnesium regime. I take magnesium glycinate but would like to add magnesium taurate or Solgar's taurine. I am wondering if you have any thoughts about one over the other? I recently had muscle spasms and am on a journey to optimize what I am taking. I don't know much about magnesium taurate or taurine but they apparently have an important effect on muscles. I also think I overdid it on magnesium intake so will be looking to decrease a bit, hopefully without withdrawal effects. Any thoughts welcome!
with much appreciation--
I just supplement with 80mg of magnesium glycinate daily but I also eat magnesium rich foods, like nuts, pumpkin seeds, milled chia seeds and salmon. Then I take 500mg of Solgar's Taurine daily ( I search online to find the cheapest supplier of that make), plus other vitamin pills. Sometimes I tell myself to stop taking all the vitamin pills I have but don't think I'd ever stop vitamin D and Vitamin K2 MK-7.
Hi
Do get your levels before taking minerals like Magnesium. It does not eliminate natually when over normal and therefore these get toxic for body and partcularly the heart, kidney and liver.
Have a blood test to prove that you need more.

I just googled the toxicity thing and seems to suggest that the kidneys do clear excess magnesium and that overdose is generally unlikely. You will know as the symptoms are diarrhoea! Which some I know have suffered! Personally, (PAF awaiting ablation) have found magnesium very helpful in reducing ectopics and the feeling of anxiety that goes with too many of them.
I would start with magnesium taurate and partner it with CoQ10 - advice received from my Naturopath. His notes:
'Probably the most common deficiency we see in the clinic. This is our in-house clinical formula containing 3 types of magnesium. Magnesium Taurate to support heart and muscle health. Magnesium Citrate particularly utilised by the mitochondria in the cells. Magnesium glycinate to support the nervous system.'
It certainly helped me. I would not worry about toxicity as usually the dose is very small and it is very much a trace element in our bodies. Like most things, a little is fine. My supplement says to take three a day but I never take more than one and this is enough to make a real difference. (Each is 100mg I believe though the information is a bit confusing on the jar.)
I have taken magnesium turate for over 5 years now to help with ectopic's after a successful ablation, from a personal experience they have been very good and my ectopic's have almost been eliminated
If you decide to test your levels of magnesium beware of this .....
"The RBC magnesium test is a more accurate test than serum testing. It is a better indicator of magnesium status than the serum magnesium measurement. The serum test is not sensitive enough to determine a deficiency in magnesium".
I am still trying to find an RBC home test.
hi. I’ve been taking magnesium citrate with dinner every night and I just started warfarin 2 1/2 weeks ago and I read that it can affect the INR either way. Has anyone heard this? Can we take our magnesium supplements with warfarin? The pharmacist said it can affect absorption, but the thing that concerns me is that online it said it can also up the bleeding risk and some people. It’s frustrating not to be able to get the same answer, and my cardiologist said separated from the warfarin for a few hours but that would still have it in our system so I’m not really sure what to do. If anyone has asked this question or has experience with it, please fill me in. Thanks.
I take magnesium daily and religiously for many many years and have used different types, it has never stopped my paf, also it apparently is best taken with vit d and vit k2 mk7
I have noticed queries about magnesium supplementation arise often in the Forum, and if you use the 🔎 search option at the top of the page, perhaps "magnesium supplements", you will get more information and experience on this subject.
It is so helpful to read about others' experiences. May I ask how much it is advised to take per day and when? Does anyone take the combined tablets of magnesium malate, glycinate, and taurate? Thank you!
