I have been following the various posts on the seemingly good benefits of magnesium but so far have only increased my intake through recommended food and drink. I would like to try a supplement but during my research came across several articles warning of adverse reaction with Warfarin. Has anyone had experience of this?

Magnesium and Warfarin?
I haven't had any problems Mrtee, but it's a good question. I posed something similar a while ago, as magnesium rich foods such as dark leafy greens contain vitamin K, which we are advised not to have too much of.
Thanks Jason. Are you taking a magnesium supplement and if yes which one? Must confess I am still confused by the various types.
I have indeed jumped on the magnesium band wagon. I take Chelated Magnesium, which I believe from what I have read on the net and on this forum is easily absorbed. I can't honestly say whether this is improving my AF, but it isn't causing me any harm. If you have any concerns whatsoever, I would consult with your Doctor or pharmacist. There does appear to be different opinions on the magnesium debate.
I am taking Magnesium Citrate, made by Solgar.... a low dose of only 200mg most days. I began to take it about a year ago...my GP said'go for it ' when I discussed it with him and it might do me good....I have AF and a slightly enlarged heart. I feel fine. Cannot say I feel better on the Mag. but I certainly have not had ill effects. If there is a chance it will be beneficial I am all for it.
Thanks for the link bigleg.
No effect at all for me. I do about 1,000 mg of topical magnesium each day and take Warfarin as well. Caution Caution.....with AF, we are all different.
Wishing you all the best..........marcus
It would be thoroughly irresponsible to infer through this forum that magnesium ("a natural blood thinner") can replace approved anti-coagulants. Most of us recognise the nonsense in that hypothesis but there are vulnerable people reading these posts and they should not be mis-guided.
When medicine gives up on AF then it may be time to examine oddball ideas and solutions. Thankfully, we are not there.
There is a very good YouTube blog by Dr Sanjay Gupta on magnesium he is a consultant cardiologist at York hospital. His blogs on all aspects of palpitations are very fascinating and reassuring youtu.be/l5H1tOg_9NY
