I have stage 4 PC, metas to bone. Now on Lupron and mostly painless.
I now have pain on one side of my groin, and wonder if it's just a muscle pull, or whether the cancer is getting to the lymph nodes there. I did take a longer walk than usual last week.
Any simple way of distinguishing between the possibilities?
Is it possible to fill out your bio 6251? How do you know you have mets to the bone? Do you have urologist or do you have a medical oncologist? Are you covered by insurance? To have mets means you have metastatic prostate cancer.
To only have being prescribed an ADT, Lupron, for metastatic prostate cancer is strangely minimalist in terms of the latest regimes that are known to work based on enormous randomized control trials. I wonder about your age being 81 if that is a factor in this therapy plan. It would be worthwhile to learn about how your therapy regime has come about.
As for pain in your groin, and the possibility that a lymph node may be generating pain, I have no idea. I have pains from time to time and I always get paranoid as to whether or not it's because I strained a muscle or walked too much or whether it's a new met. Fortunately so far the pains have been muscle related. (I'm 3 years into Stage 4B high volume metastatic prostate cancer.) Pain management itself is very important and the quality of medical decision making around pain management is a known problem. That is to say standards of pain management are not widely agreed upon an adopted.
Here's hoping that you're growing pain goes away because you went on a long walk! 😃 (But you should probably ask about it if you can.)
I am about to join that your 80 group. So you know that at that point doctors consider current health status, physical conditionsing, etc. in offering medicines, etc.
In my experience, I can get out of bed in the AM and while I am getting dressed I can develop a pain or twist my back out. I suspect that is true in your case too.
I have read that cancer pain is constant over time and that muscle pulls, etc are more passing in nature. You might try some over the counter pain or muscle relaxers to see if the pain changes.

My dad asked about a pain in his back when we went for an appointment. The doctor said cancer pain is relentless and will likely not come and go. Because my dad's pain was soothed with heat and wasn't always there he assured him that it was not due to cancer on the bones. To my understanding, the only time lymph node mets cause pain is when they become so large they press on a nerve. There is no way to know until enough time has passed that either the muscle heals, or by getting a scan. I would treat it like a muscle tear and if it's not better in a week or two reach out to your doc. I hope it gets better!
Hello, i was on lupron for 2 years and also experienced groin pain on one side. However, that is the same side i had an injury from 40 years ago that would reappear every now and then. I stopped lupron 1 year ago and went on Ivermectin and went on very healthy diet along with water only fasting for 4 to 5 days every few months. 2 weeks ago i had a PSMA Pet scan which showed now signs of cancer. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic intraductal prostate cancer in Feb. 2022.
Good eye deer to update your bio (all info is voluntary). Unfortunately when you hit your 80's your 80's hits you. (I'm speaking from experience). See your Doc as soon as possible and have him check you out......(I didn't mean for you to check out..... that's what I usually say to my wife).
