Do you have experiences that hormonal therapy (ADT, Erleada etc) cause pain? What kind is it and have you stopped drugs? Or have you had a break and started it again? Or what has helped? My dad has been on ADT and Erleada for couple of months. Everything went fine but now he has quite bad pain ecpecially during night (mainly his upper back but pain chamges place) . I am right now just interested to hear experiences of pain and hormonal treatment. Please, not any advice what else can cause the pain and what kind of screening is needed etc. Thank you 🙂

The pain is usually caused by bone metastases.

If the pain is not caused by bone metastases, may be caused by degenerative problems in the joints including the vertebral joints. ADT and anti androgens make one older more rapidly.

Considering to consult with a primary doctor and see if necessary to consult with orthopedics and get a MRI of the spine. The MRI will detect degenerative changes in the spine which may be causing the pain and if there were mets they will be identified.

When you have bone metastases it can be difficult to tell if the pain is due to them or new pain brought on by the ADT but if you know where the mets are, and you get new pain elsewhere, that's likely to be caused by the ADT. I have new lower back pain and some mild knee joint pain since I started Prostap + Xtandi and my scans don't show any mets there so I'm sure that is caused by the medication.

I've been on Zytiga/Prednisone/Lupron for 18 months. I usually have what I call my "pain du jour" (pain of the day). It moves around almost anywhere, but usually goes away or moves somewhere else after a few hours. I've had endless scans that show no connection with the pains.

You are asking very complicated questions to a populace who have no idea on your Dad’s scope of disease. They can offer antidotal comments only. These are questions best answered by his medical oncologist.

Good luck in seeking your answers.

Tango 65 hit it on the head, it could be a number of age related issues, for the ADT is in every way an aging accelerator.

Aches and pains are definitely SEs of ADT. I experienced leg pains, starting at about 8 - 9 months in. I quit ADT at 12 months because I couldn't stand the whole SE package any longer.

Dear Daughter would you please update your Dear Dad's bio so that we can better answer your question(s). All info is voluntary. Thank you,

BTW probably everyone on this site has/had pain.
