I feel very fortunate to have have found this site. There's so much information here. There are insights to people's journey with cancer that is similar to mine. I am grateful to be aboard with each and every one of you.I've just had a break from my ADT meds for a little over 3 months. I feel better that I did and my mind and body benefited greatly from it. Now it's time to get a Lupron injection again next Wednesday. Hopefully that alone will keep my PSA down and I won't have to take abiraterone and Prednisone.
That being said how do you combat the lack of testosterone that comes with ADT. ?
Again I feel grateful and blessed to be here.

Lowering testosterone is the intention of Lupron and Abiraterone and required to stop the cancer. However, the body produces estrogen from testosterone and that is reduced as well. Lowering that is not required to fight the cancer but causes many side effects like hot flashes, bone loss, etc. If you increase estrogen to a normal level, you will mitigate these side effects.
An additional approach may be adjusting one's diet and exercise. For me, I have no scientific data to support its effect but I believe it has played a contributory role in mitigating the side effects from treatment.
