I know PSA can rise during chemo initially but we are 7 treatments in and my dad’s PSA rises with each treatment. His latest scan showed some Mets are smaller in size and not lighting up as much. His MO says he’s not concerned about the PSA, but it’s the highest it’s ever been. Has anyone dealt with this before?

I was in clinical trials call "ARX517" After 5 dosage. I stopped the treatment because of kidney functions. My PSA start raise from 2.15 once I stopped the treatment and now it is 12.65 during 6 month. I did scan every 4 week to check stability and improvement. In last scan We found new METS so now we are searching other treatment options.
Dr was clear that PSA is important for sure but when SCAN is stable in that case we focus on SCAN
When his psa increased last month he had the scan and it’s showing improvement. Now the psa has gone up again. He has another scan scheduled. It’s just confusing.
I guess I don’t get the rise in PSA while doing Chemo. Mine went down and was undetectable prior to round 5 and has been since. What type of chemo is he doing?
Of course you're concerned but I've seen tons of posts here where PSA goes up and then down... Remember that saying "what goes up must come down".... Give your Father our fondest regards (and to you and the rest of the family). Get ready for Christmas and make it a wonderful one for all!!!
p.s. Buy your Dad something he likes for Christmas since he already has something to love, that's YOU.
I did not have chemo during my prostate treatment, only the 35 radiotherapy sessions so v sorry but cannot help. Best wishes to you both, cancer and the treatments are horrible things.
