Anybody have a recommendation for an oncologist at the Tampa area Moffit cancer center. Tia

Sorry, not Moffit, but look up the education and other vitae of Dr. Elizabeth Guancial at FL Cancer Specialists in Sarasota. My wife (bladder cancer) travels from Jacksonville for treatment after Dr. Guancial was recommended by Dr. Jonathan Rosenberg, Chief The Sidney Kimmel Institute at Memorial Sloan Kettering. For what it's worth I (prostate cancer) travel to Dr. Daniel George at Duke.
I went to Moffitt and was really disappointed with the MO I met with. PM me and I’ll tell you who I would avoid there. I think that if you want to get then eat MO there try and see the head of the department. It takes longer, but he’s the most experienced MO there.
I went there for a second opinion in Oct. 2018 and met with their newly arrived prostate cancer oncologist. Overall, I wasn't impressed. Looking back, I was on Lupron only for 11 months prior and he did not suggest adding Zytiga or Xtandi, which later seemed surprising. That expert departed within a few months, so he was only at Moffitt for about a year.
I had essentially the same experience, but with a different MO. The MO only wanted to put me on ADT and do nothing curative. Told me I had about 2 years to live even though I just have spread to pelvic lymph nodes. Every other MO and RO I had met with at that time said to go ADT for 2 years + Radiation and that I might be curable. Given what I'm seeing, I would avoid Moffitt and go elsewhere.
My experience only but I was disappointed with Moffitt. You might never even meet with some of your actual doctors. All preliminary visits and even follow ups were held with PA's. Visits for a second opinions are the same. I found the facilities and staff were great. I developed zero confidence with the one Oncologist I actually had face time with. Direct message me for details. I ended up travelling to Miami Cancer Center for treatments and they were greater then great.
In 2014 I saw Dr Jinsong Zhang who gave me great advice as he was very up on fact and figures -- more of a research guy. He stated that at our very first appointment and that was exactly what I was looking for. Saw him for 6 years, traveling from the east coast of Florida every 3 months and was very happy with him.
My experience with urology there was horrible, though.
I have followed his advice and it fit me well. Things have changed much in the past 10 years so, as always: YMMV
When I went to Moffitt in Tampa My oncologist was Julie kish
Dr. Elizabeth Guancial, MD is as good as you will ever find, great Dr. and great person. Check her CV, she earned medical degree at Harvard School of Medicine, internal Medicine Residency at Mass General Hospital, Completed a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the world renown Dana Farber Cancer Institute. She is located in Sarasota with Florida Cancer Specialists, good luck in your search for a MO.
Greatly appreciate all the info. One of my brothers is going through the process now and I'm trying to clean as much info as possible.
