I like the staff at the former CTCA now City of Hope. I go to the Goodyear location

The Mayo Clinic is in N Scottsdale. My son will be transferring there from UCSD San Diego because his job is moving this month. Phoenix is a large city very spread out and it takes time to get from one end of the city to another, but Mayo has a good reputation. I don’t specifically know the name of any of the Mayo oncologists yet , just the name of the facility. I hope this helps you.

A second vote for Mayo. I'm there and they have a lot of experts that actually talk with each other.

I won't go to Mayo. Thought we had a plan there. Each 3 mos a PSA test and Eligard every 6 mo. Visit with MO at Eligard time including PSA and a telehealth with a PSA test. I had the shot scheduled in July at Mayo in Rochester but MO wouldn't order a PSA test then and wanted me to wait until I returned to Phoenix in Oct. I got one on my own because I didn't want the not knowing hanging over my head while I traveled.

When I got back to Benson, I requested a different MO. 1st my request was approved. Later it was denied; I was told that I was disrespectful and that I was cured of PCa anyway, but If I wanted any radiation I could get it. I was always treated as just a number. Did like my social worker very much who was often screwed over by her co-workers regarding appointments.

OMG! The only thing I know about the Rochester Mayo is that Dr Eugene Kwon is the head of it and does YouTube videos and speaks at conferences and is supposed to be excellent at treating prostate cancer. Did you ever deal with him? I agree your experience was not a good one.

No. I was answering regarding Mayo Phoenix. My only connection to Mayo Rochester was for my 6 mo Eligard shot. I had to argue with the nurse regarding the placement of the depot. I hate them in my stomach area.

Similar to my experience. Number in a list. A metric to be checked off. Didn't the die of PCa? Check. Died of a heart attack? Good. He doesn't have a chance to die of PCa.

Good technicians however. Surgeon did a good job but his social skills were defective.

PS I should have also mentioned that, even though Phoenix is a very large spread out city there is a great network of freeways that help you get from one place to another. It’s best if you can avoid peak traffic hours like any other large city.

After growing up in So Cal, Phoenix freeways are a joy

I have lived here so long that I’ve watched Phoenix grow from a very nice size city to a metropolis so I guess I’m one of those people who remembers the good old days!

I remember going to Phoenix as a kid and taking the 2 lane that went right through Agua Fria and all the cotton fields. Oddly enough those fields belonged to a friend of mine's family

Dr Bryce - MO - Mayo Clinic Phoenix - Excellent.

actually, any of the medical oncologist at Mayo Phoenix are very good. Dr. Bryce is the head of oncology. They all have access to the latest protocols including pluvicto. Good luck.

Thank you. I did send Dr Bryce’s name to my son but it’s great to learn that all the MO’s are good.

Sorry to be so late with this reply. I see Dr Bryan Wong at M D Anderson, part of the Banner Health system in Gilbert (or is it Chandler, I never keep them straight). Anyway, I began seeing Dr. Wong on the personal referral of another of his patients and also received a nice compliment about him from my previous oncologist at M D Anderson in Houston . I would say he is pretty matter of fact, which I like. I'm not going there to make new friends although he is not unfriendly. Having said that I can say the overall ambience of the place is most friendly and uplifting. I can recommend him to you with confidence,

Hope this helps

I have been seeing Dr Bryan Wong at MD Anderson in Gilbert, AZ for several years. A very bright and competent MO with a phd on top of his MD. I really like the guy.
