My 73 year old dads stage 4 mastitic prostate cancer

Hi all

My dad was diagnoised 3 years ago stage 4 with bone cancer lesions.

He is on hormorne injections, and was taking chemo tablets until 18 months ago, then had to have 10 rounds of chemo which ended in septmeber 2023, since then his lost weight and his struggling to walk etc due to his lower back pain. PSA has now risen to 320 since december and red blood cells dropped to 78, his currently due to start radium 223, if his red blood cells rise.

Im worried this is going to end his life.

Judwil,

I am so sorry that I can’t answer any of your questions, but I can offer understanding and support from one who is also going through this miserable disease.

I am sure your post has been read by many, and surely soon others will chime in with meaningful comments.

I just wanted to give you a brief note letting you know you are not alone.

Robert

I'm in a similar situation. Had HT, RT and docetaxel in last 2 years and now am very weak and walking around with a zimmer frame .

Has your dad kept up regular exercise? I've not done enough which I think is a large part of the problem. I've just joined a special cancer gym to help me start building my strength back.

Best of luck to your dad.

My dad was doing phsyically fine considering he also needs to knee replacements, since chemo his health as gone down ill, resulting in not eating, chest infection, now cripling back pain.

Good luck,i hope you stay strong to carry on the fight.

Hi my fathers 73.

Stage 4 with bone mets on his spine, we based in the uk, he had teststrone injection blocker every 3 months since diagnoised 3 years ago. along side his had chemo tablets for 18 months, then 10 rounds of docetaxel chemotheraphy, stopped in september 2023, since then his had a presistant chest infection, psa rising and horrendous lower back pain, hardly mobile now. Also loss of appetite, sick, low red blood cells, and dizzy now.

His oncologist Dr Dandimoody is looking to start radium 223 if and when his well enough, and his red blood cells have increased.

PSA increased from 126 december to 320 in January .

Hope this helps

Best wishes.
