My father has his degarelix and denosumab subcutaneous injections every 4 weeks as prescribed. Of late he has started getting fevers in the night on the day of the shot. The fever usually lasts for a day and resolves on its own. Initially I assumed this was a one off incident but he has been experiencing it pretty regularly now i,e in 3 out of his last 4 cycles. Has anyone else also faced similar problems?
He has been on degarelix + denosumab injections since November 2021- but these episodes of fever have started only recently i.e since hist last 4 shots, wondering what might have changed and any precautions to avoid this?

What is his temperature? If ≤101° it may be an allergic reaction- try claritin and tylenol. If higher he may have a UTI or other infection - let his doctor know either way.
wasn't able to discuss with him , will bring it up in our next visit . May just be the reaction as you suggest as it resolves pretty fast without any treatment
I had the same side effects. On it for 18 months. Started getting flu like symptoms after about 10 months. Got progressively worse but only lasted 24-36 hours then I was fine. Never asked the doc about it, just endured. Took ibuprofen.
It is a sort of immunotherapy. High fever plus high leukocytes. I was also getting it. I believe it is more a reaction of the skin as it also gets warm if they don't inject the firmagon deep into the fat tissue. They probably inject it just under the skin. They should inject it very slowly deep into the fat tissue with the needle provided in the kit. Otherwise the derma will rupture and that will cause reaction. They should change a site and not to inject into the scar tissue from the previous injections. I know this as I am getting this injection for 5 years now.
Thanks Seasid for sharing your experience. Regarding the site just curious to know if you have always been taking it around the navel region ? I guess since they are always injecting it around the same general region it is getting harder for them to find a spot that is not scarred from previous shots, that may probably explain why this issue was not seen in the early shots
My first 2 (2x120mg) big shot was delivered to the fat tissue why I was facing down and laying down to my bottom. They can deliver it anywhere where is enough fat tissue and you will not sit on it when you are sleeping etc. That is the only consideration.
Hey Larry, you know that new med we concocted the other day, throw in a little bit of that raise the temperature mixture just to break patients balls.....Okay Curly, and I'll also text Moe.....
