Degarelix

I’m about to be changed over from Degarelix (Firmagon) to Prostap (Lupron) in a couple of weeks because 3 monthly injection is more convenient. I’ve read that Degarelix is better though.., maybe I should ask to stay on that? Or I’m wondering about asking to switch to Orgovyx instead.

currently on firmagon or degarelix Just prescribed ERLEADA OR APALUTAMIDE MD Aerson pharmacy lists $26,000 month. I don’t have a drug plan till January. Where can I buy it lower cost?

Tomorrow I am scheduled to get my 18th injection of Degarelix. Despite the monthly frequency, I’m much happier with the SE’s from Degarelix than from Lupron or Eligard.

I am a 68yr old guy who had a Rarp in August 23 for a Grade 5 T3a prostate cancer Jan this year my PSA started to rise setting of alarm bells with my Urologist further test and a PSMA PET scan confirmed Metastatic recurrence on lymph nodes and a rib I was put back on to monthly Degarelix Hormone therapy

Before treatments (Apalutamide, Degarelix, Zometa) PSA number at biopsy was 6.89 After hospitalization (June/July 2024) for heart attack: PSA was at 348 (monitored by Oncologist at hospital) Treatments began in August 2024 monthly.

I’m presuming it’s my balls starting to wither after 3 months of degarelix and enzalutamide… but maybe it’s more worrying? Balls!

PSA dropped from 530 to 1.3 after 4 weeks of degarelix only.)

"Compliance" with meds taking and timing is a big issue, as we all know. And research shows that especially with the elderly, compliance to meds regimes and timings by day and by week is difficult to follow. And the consequences are not good. MO said to repeat the T test after a couple of weeks and if it shows an increasing trend to shift to Degarelix or some other ADT. He has started to take the Relugolix on empty stomach to see if that helps as I read it is absorbed better on an empty stomach.

Has said to do a repeat T test in 2 weeks and if the increasing trend continues , then to shift to Degarelix Regarding the genetic report he said since dad has a high TMB he is a good candidate for keytruda as and when required and that he has had good results on patients with it

Degarelix worked for 6 months now on xtandi as well gleeson score 8 psa has fallen slightly from 323 to 280 how long should i expect xtandi to stop bone pain etc.

Also , I have been reading that antagonists like Degarelix or relugolix may be safer from cardiac safety point compared to agonists like lupron ? Any thoughts and experiences which can be shared ? 🙏🏻

Degarelix injections with Zometa Infusions. Afterward, want to do Apalutamide Oral and probable Proton Therapy down the road. Due to the heart attack while in the hospital and the added medications for the heart and diabetes; the PSA number was at 348.00 on June 16.

Two years in to my de novo high volume metastatic prostate cancer diagnosis, I am pleased to report excellent results so far with triplet therapy (Docetaxel chemo completed, Abiraterone ARPI, Firmagon/Degarelix GnRH antagonist as ADT). However I would be grateful for any advice today.

I got put on Firmagon (Degarelix) immediately - no real SEs 7 weeks later apart from hot flashes and a bit of fatigue (I know more will come later). Blood tests taken last week before I was put on Enzalutamide - PSA had dropped to 0.88... I thought I'd misheard when she told me.

Would degarelix or relugolix be better choices ? We are also considering getting Orchiechtomy done but the doctor said to take the first Lupron shot without delaying , and then after that we can think of the Orchiechtomy.

Degarelix for 8 months. Two months after end of Degarelix PSA rising rapidly (doubling time 5 weeks). Started ADT (Zoladex) Feb 2023. By Oct PSA 0.40 ug/L, Dec 0.43 ug/L, Feb 2024 0.46 ug/L. Small rises but still on Zoladex.
