I just had my 5th Degarelix injection. The prior four injections prompted no reaction beyond pain and soreness at the site. The reaction to the 5th shot caused more pain than usual at the injection site, but also came with chills and severe joint and muscle pain by that evening. I woke up the next day in worse shape - ended up sleeping till 7 pm. Felt much better and rapidly improved from then on. Can you have a different reaction to each shot? Or was my circumstance an anomaly? Thanks for any thoughts.

Degarelix bad reaction
Hi Yes sometimes you have a very bad shot my last one i had bad pain for 2 weeks i have have also had fever
That is common with degarelx. Try to avoid injections to the previous injection scar tissue. The injection site should be rotated. I am on degarelix for more than 5 years now. The injection should be under 45 degree deep into the fat tissue.
I went 12-13 months receiving degarelix injections before experiencing the first severe reaction. Prior to this the pain/soreness was tolerable and manageable with ibuprofen. Then the pain seemed greater than usual and around 2 am I started with uncontrollable shivers, muscle aches, joint pain. I dosed with ibuprofen which seemed to mitigate most symptoms, except that day I was wiped out and slept most of the day. After that first severe reaction, it has been hit or miss for the past 5 months. The most recent injection was almost symptom free, but the prior I was out of commission for two days after injection. All those symptoms are listed as possible injection reaction symptoms. I just got them ALL.
I lasted about 6 months on Degarelix, but the welts were getting pretty painful, so I switched to Lupron every 3 months, but after another year, I decided it was time to say goodbye to the boys.
A good nurse who has been well trained on Degerelix injections can give almost trouble free injections. Each person has a slightly different order of discomfort and fever. If you don't get fever then you can move around comfortably after 24 hours. Unfortunately, there are many nurses who are not properly trained. There are many little tricks. If you leave the needle in for 30 secs after injection and then withdraw it then the medicine does not leak onto the skin as the needle is withdrawn. This reduces the redness and discomfort in the injection spot. You can read up there are many inputs for reducing the reaction on this site maybe and others. Just search.
the last shot I had was the same as you. I took some over the counter med for inflammation and the next day felt much better! Today, 8/28 I feel normal. I had my injection on 8/25.
i have been receiving them for nearly 3 years, along with Xtandi.
I had the same exact symptoms
I had mine over 2 weeks and still feel a small welt at injection site. Do I need more adipose cells in my gut to help alleviate the issues?
