For those on Lupron experiencing fatigue…

I have been on intermittent Lupron for over ten years after biological reoccurrence after robotic prostatectomy. Fortunately it has worked well to keep my psa in check but fatigue and general loss of stamina has kept me from engaging in many physical activities I used to enjoy.

FORTUNATELY I have been prescribed Nuvigil, a stimulant that has put the “energy” to enjoy life once again, not simply mope along. Although it acts as a stimulant via promoting wakefulness it is not a central nervous stimulant like Adderall or old school Dexedrine and other amphetamines, so it is not a highly controlled substance.

This is a medication you actually feel when it kicks in and frankly can create mild euphoric effects as well. Has made a significant difference in my qol. Highly recommend

Wonderful, unless one experiences amphetamine-like side effects, a high price to pay and never unusual with stimulants.

Glad it’s working for you. Exercise is far superior, but I understand the appeal. You recommend it, I recommend proceed with great caution.

Korean Panax Ginseng helps me, 1 capsule day or every other day when extra energy is needed. The instructions say 2 capsules 30min before food but at 1600mg that is too much for me & I always think taking supplements on empty stomach can be no good for the liver.

Everybody is different but that helps me.

Is it a pill? How long does it last?

I've been taking Provigil for a while now and I agree, it helps with focus and energy.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has rated Provigil and Nuvigil as Schedule IV drugs. Provigil and Nuvigil produce psychoactive and euphoric effects, alterations in mood, perception, thinking and feelings typical of other CNS stimulants. (from Google)

I used to be able to go off Lupron for almost 9 months, with my psa staying at .02

Then each time I would stop the nadir lasted shorter and shorter with it now being only 3 months before it would rise to 1.5…my onc-agreed upper threshold.

Even though it takes a while for my testosterone to return to normal I feel great once it stop.
