More cancer to deal with

I had my bladder cauterized to stop the bleeding i have been dealing with for few months. My Urologist took some tissue samples which unfortunately were positive for urothelial carcinoma. Muscularis propria was present and involved. I have to see another urologist who specializes in bladder cancer. Does anyone know of what is the standard treatment for this type of bladder cancer? Is it systemic chemo or surgery. I didn't need this news just before Christmas.

I'm sorry to hear this. I've been reading that men with urothelial cancer have higher rates of other cancers. My friend was able to use BCG for his bladder cancer. But idk enough about it and the staging to comment on therapies.

Thank you TA, I will know the staging when I see the doctor.

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis , especially right before Christmas brother. That really sucks. Hopefully your new specialist will be able to get you right into a treatment and make your coming days much better. I’m thinking positive thoughts ( transfer of merit) for you and a big manly ehug brother.

I certainly can’t speak to therapeutic approaches in this matter. Am I to understand you have urethral cancer versus bladder cancer? As a physical therapist about 10 years ago I had a patient who had urethral cancer who had stereotactic radiation a total of 5 treatment, which was successful but I am not recommending or suggesting that for you, only reporting. Bladder cancer is another matter whete BCG as Allen mentioned in certain patient groups can be curative ( of course stage dependent) Best to you

I am waiting on an appointment next week to learn if I can have my prostate cancer bladder tumor cauterized. I believe if the bladder muscle is involved then our options are limited depending upon what PCa treatment you are undergoing.

my prostate was removed in 2009. I had salvage radiation to the prostate bed in 2021. This year I noticed blood in my urine that led to cauterization of the bladder and the biopsy that showed the cancer. The bladder cancer is not prostate cancer. According to the biopsy, it has involved bladder muscle. I will be seeing a urologist/oncologist to determine what treatment to have. I’m not treating my prostate cancer right now by that will come soon
