Hello All , I had a yearly visit with my Urologist . Nothing really bothering me , just to keep him in the loop . I have a MO at V.A. and a MO at U of Chicago . So during our chat he said their practice , Advanced Urology , their MO only does chemo . Other meds done by different docs . I found that strange . He said that the group will recommend Provenge after 2 rises in PSA . Is that standard protocol ? He didnt give me a end point of a PSA # to start Provenge just 2 rises ? Anyhow Im still <.03 , PSA . I will bring this up at my next MO meeting in January . Thanks

Provenge after 2 rises in PSA ?
Hi,
Read your history. If your PSA is basically 0, why are they even speaking of Provenge? I am also surprised that you were not placed on ADT initially when you were diagnosed and not six years later. I admit, I am just a layman no medical experience. I have had this m*therf*cker > 17 years. I JUST completed Zytiga. As long as your PSA is <4, you are in the “safe” range. IF it does increase they need to be cognizant of the doubling time. Just my two cents. Best of luck!
I have been on Eligard , Zytiga , pred. since 02/01/22 . Initially 6 yrs ago had SBRt to my prostate . I cruised along 6 yrs no meds with low Psa then my psa spiked . I was given PSMA-pet pylarify at V. A. and thats when they found cancer in 1 pelvic lymph node . I had 3 fractions to that 1 pelvic lymph node , then 25 fractions to the entire pelvic area . This is where Im at now . Hope I explained myself better . I thought all that info was in my Bio .
Reconjj I DID read your bio - at least twice before replying. As I said, why weren’t you initially placed on ADT? That’s ALWAYS standard of care. I just commented that I am surprised that your doctors are even discussing Provenge at this point when your PSA is so low. Please read MY bio.
You should not be talking to an MO. Your PSA certainly will become measurable after you stop ADT. That is expected. You will only discuss additional diagnosis if your PSA rises above 2.0.
Let us know if your insurance approves it and who your insurance company is please?
By that I mean chemo or LU177 etc
