Antidepressants and ED

I've been on ADT for 4.5 years. Lupron and Zytiga. We all know the sexual health problems with that. I was getting depressed quite badly at times so I started Citalopram a few days ago. It's already helping but I have noticed a bit more ED. Maybe I have to give it some time to see. There are other anti dep that don't cause as much problems evidently. Anybody have experience with this?

Wellbutrin

Citalopram is an SSRI which can damage sexual health. In a related but different category is Vybriid, which is what my doctor prescribed for me for that reason.

In any case, you should get a DNA test to determine which antidepressants will be effective for you.

And yes, Wellbutrin, which increasing dopamine function, doesn't reduce sexual health at all, though it did nothing for me in terms of depression.

Obviously, if you can get on intermittent ADT, that might make a difference in your depression.

What I plan to do if my PSA keeps rising is use high-dose transdermal estradiol (tE2) as ADT, specifically because it doesn't cause depression, which almost killed e the first time around.

I am right in the middle of sorting out my own ED issues, but I haven't noticed any additional trouble from my ANTI-D meds.

I was given to understand that Citalopram (Celexa) was one of the least troublesome for ED 🤷‍♂️.

I'm on it myself, with a Wellbutrin chaser.

is this your first exposure to ANTI-D meds? I would be very surprised if you were able to notice any change at all, mood or otherwise, after only 3 days.

there are so many factors involved with ED! You know yourself best of course, but from my experience with the meds I wouldn't make any conclusions until about 3-4 weeks.

Hope it helps with the moods! You might not even notice except in retrospect, or your partner may notice first.

( I had 25 years of no help from the meds. I was off for 3 years before some Psylocybin gave my neuro-plasticity a big boost. Now the meds are working well 👍)

all the best!

I have a buddy doing Psylocybin and he says the same thing. This is my first exposure to anti d. I actually do notice a difference already. Today especially. Fourth day. I was going down the rabbit hole a lot and now seems to be a lot better. I will give it a couple weeks to see if it worsens the ED. Been working on that quite a bit. Going in for ICI training on Wed. Celexa is one or the worst for sexual problems including ED, as I understand.

excellent! Wow, glad to hear it!

and I will definitely be checking with my physician about that Celexa 😬😆. Thanks for the heads up. So to speak.
