knee replacement during ADT

I have been on ADT for 8 months. I have a small farm and usually do constant physical labor. I find that I now have major fatigue and can now only do small things that leave me exhausted. I fell and wrenched my knee. I got a steroid injection and have a brace, my knee is bone o bone. I need a knee replacement. I am concerned that I will not be able to do the excursuses required to have a successful knee replacement. I still have a long way to go with my ADT and I am thinking I need to get a replacement sooner than instead of waiting. Has anyone had a knee replacement during ADT?

Yes! I've had 4 joint replacements while on ADT (2 knees, 1 hip, and 1 shoulder). All of them have been very successful. Find a good surgeon and go for it!

I have been wanting a knee replacement for years but at 73.5yrs I have been hesitant hearing it takes at least a year to recover. Like you I do not know what to do & waiting time here is also years, not to mention the cost.If you go ahead let us know how it went & good luck.

Not a knee, but I had a total hip replacement after almost 5 years of ADT (and other treatments). Post op recovery was fine (at least until I broke the little toe on the “good” leg😂)

Get stronger, in your lower half especially. Approach the knee replacement as an Olympics you’re training for, only obviously on a much smaller scale. Your cardiovascular fitness is important as well.

Your ‘constant physical labor’ may actually be interfering with your fitness and strength, in a sense. I can’t know, since constant physical labor is a very general term. If you’re this fatigued despite the farm work something may be missing.

I am contemplating knee replacement too. I had one knee replaced 10 years ago and it was an easy recovery. Now at 71, with low immune numbers, I am struggling to make a decision. I asked my MO and he said to go for it. I probably will. Good luck making your decision!

I had a total knee replacement 8 months after starting ADT. I worked hard on physical therapy and the result was good.
