trelstar

hi warriors. I have been on trelstar for 8 years and was wondering if anyone else has been on it. I have been undetectable at <.006 and now my psa is rising to .014. Maybe trelstar is losing its touch. Anyway I am doing a psma tomorrow. Had a pet ct last week that didn’t light up so I know the psma probably won’t show anything but maybe it will a little? Anyway if trelstar is not effective what is next? Thanks so much for any and all input.

That is a great response to Trelstar!

So see if a second line therapy may be next? I’ll see what the psma reads and let you all know.

I had never heard of trelstar. It acts the same way as Lupron. So, if your body is not reacting any longer to Trelstar, you will probably be placed on a second tier ADT such as Xtandi, Zyriga, Erleada, or Nubeqa. I may have forgotten one, but this would normally be the next step. Your PSA is still very low; they possibly may not do anything.

Thanks. I’ll see what the psma comes up with. Good to know that I can add on.

I made a spelling error, it’s Zytiga. Keep us posted.

Spoke with mo and she said we will check my psa September which will be three months. My psma was clear of metastasis so she wasn’t inclined to radiate pelvic bed at this point nor add zytiga. Just like you thought. She did say those are things that are in the toolbox. Take care and hope you are doing well!

Thanks and I’m still nervous about what the psa will be in September but I guess for now I’ll just not stress it and deal with whatever it is in September. Talk to you soon and take care!

Hi Mikes21. I switched to Trelstar because I had terrible allergy issues with Lupron....itchy hives all over. I stayed on Trelstar for 18 months as per my oncologist's advice. Apparently my situation was relatively uncommon.

How’s your psa?

yamobedeh profile image
yamobedeh in reply toMikes21

Undetectable for 6 years now. I was on "triple blockade".....Trelstar, Casodex and Avodart. After 18 months, I continued with Avodart (and still do) since my oncologist suggested that it contributes to maintaining a hostile environment for Pca.

My Dx was stage 4, Gleason 8. 37 radiotherapy sessions to prostate and one bone met. Then 10 follow-up sessions on pelvic lymph nodes. Finally, low dose brachytherapy.

Forgot to also ask have you ever done chemo?

Amazing. So you’re just on avodart now? Thx

I have been on Travelstar for at least two years. I got it at Moffett in Tampa Florida that is not common. I did a trial with Florida cancer and they wanted to have me do everything there in the house but they couldn't get trail star long story short I'm now at mayo and they were able to get it for me. I liked it better than Lupron because the side effects seem less also apparently it's a lot less expensive than Lupron. I use it in place of Lupron. I'm now using it with with Nubequa
