PSA blip

Hi Everyone,

It’s been awhile and DC has been doing great and his PSA has been coming down nicely. He’s on Lupron-3, Zytiga & Prednisone. He got his blood results back yesterday and his PSA blipped a bit by 0.5 ; from 5.6 to 6.1. Is that a normal occurrence this early in his journey? He was dx back in July 2021. He had diarrhea along with hematuria about 3 weeks ago so he’s going in on March 11 for a cystoscopy to see if there are any masses. We weren’t expecting anything to rise, more of a leveling off, so I’m a bit worried for him. Any thoughts?

It could be a small "PSA bounce." Meaning when you start a new drug the dying cancer cells give off PSA for a one time upward tick.

Thank you for that heads up. I thought I read that somewhere but wasn’t sure exactly when that occurred.

Thank you for the advice! I will keep that in mind for the next time he goes for his draw.

Thank you…he had his scans in September and the Mets he had were “very minor” so I’m hoping the meds may have taken care of them by now. He has been having rib cage pain and sharp pains in that area Not sure if it’s due to the weight loss (which has leveled off).
