My husband started Lynparza mid January 2022 with a PSA of 238. His PSA is now 73. We hope to remain friends with Lynparza as long as possible. Side effects are low white counts and he had to stop xgeva for a while due to low calcium levels. We are scheduling blood work every 14 days to check to make sure he can stay on the 4 pills a day dosage.
We are remaining very active and walking on this frozen tundra as much as possible.
Not giving up!! Lynparza!
Be well!

i wish you the best with your new friend. Still seeing Dr. Monk? i saw him in January also. very pleased that he is my MO. and be careful out there on those walks - the snow we had on the ground sucked up last week's rain like a sponge and turned into some of the slipperiest ice we've had in quite a while! supposed to warm up tomorrow, maybe it will melt a bit of it.
Still seeing Dr. Monk - He was slightly upbeat on our visit - this is the first time we have had a good PSA response. He was also excited for the urology conference in SF next week. Looking forward to hearing about what's next in the world of PC treatment. The ice is crazy - too much of our property faces north - expecting a thaw in August!
The specialty farm was a nightmare - trying to get the Lynparza. We actually had someone mail us some and the USPS either confiscated or someone stole it. I would recommend whoever you give it to, pick it up directly. It's worth the drive!
Does your husband have mutation? My understanding is that Lynparza is particularly effective on BRCA 1 and 2. I have CHEK2 mutation and Lynparza is probably my next treatment after current Xtandi. Please keep us informed on treatment. Thanks 🙏
Yes - It's in my bio. He has a mutation called Rad51c. Very rare. His sister and brother have the mutation. Sister is a ovarian cancer survivor and His brother has colon cancer. Rad51c is an ovarian cancer mutation. Just last year it was found that men that have the mutation can take Lynparza. We tried to get in the Lynparza trials early on but he was declined. Rad51c is down the line in BRCA. Right now - it's just watching to make sure he does not have a fever. The bi weekly blood work will calm his nerves at bit.
My husband started Lynparza September 2020. His PSA went down fairly quickly and he’s been undetectable for almost a year. He’s had his share of side effects but he’s also had 6 doses of xofigo. His blood counts were down for a while but they are coming back to his “lower than normal” normal. Fatigue and mental fog are the two side effects that seem most troubling. His last scan showed no progression of bone mets or any new lesions. We’re grateful for this treatment! He’s BRCA2. Praying for your success!
