My husband started Lynparza 2 weeks ago. Still on Lupron. He is 3 years in now, very aggressive, castrate resistant, has done the docetaxel routine twice. Radiation 2 years ago. Anyone out there have anything to share? I feel that we are running out of options.

My husband is stage IV, Small Cell Neuroendocrine PC. He was diagnosed June. 2017. His negligent PCwas relying
On a DRE and not including a PSA at his annual exam. He was first put on Zytiga and prednisone. In November 2017 it was discovered that he had developed Cushing’s Syndrome and SCNPC. The genome of his tumor was sequenced and he was found to have a BRCA 2 gene, somatic not germ-line. After 8 rounds of platinum based chemo he was placed on Lynparza at the end of May 2018. The medication comes from Astazenica shipped from a pharmacy in Sioux Falls.SD. Up to this month all has gone well with the shipping. This month is a nightmare. Holds up to 3 1/2 hours on the phone Pills not shipped when they said, he has now run out. Company won’t allow patients to carry a small supply. Fed Ex said pills shipped yesterday but they went to the wrong town, miles away. We wait in hope today. Sorry for the rant. Lynparza has been a game changer, it has held the cancer at bay with few debilitating side effects. Hence my anxiety at not having the medication.
Finally, meds delivered. That’s the stress of having to rely on others. But, it is what it is. Lynparza has so far kept my husband’s values stable. We live from blood test and scan to scan but so does everybody else. For my husband Lynparza has been a game changer in terms of buying time. New Lupron coming up next week, side effects , not too bad.
So happy to here you got the meds! It’s bad enough to deal with the cancer. I’m very pleased to hear that this stuff is working! We sure hope it keeps my husband going for a while.
I am on the lynparaza for Three months going on for will have bone scan and CT scans next week and let you know the results. My PSA has moved from 61 to about 65 which is a slow down from 15to20 points Per month.
Thanks for responding! I look forward to hearing how your test results go.
I guess my two fears are, one, will it work, and two, how compromised will his immune system be on this stuff. While on chemo, he was given the Neulasta on pro and that worked very well. In the meantime, I’ll keep hoping for the best.
I was diagnosed 7 + years ago with many lymph node mets and (PSA=29;G=10).
Have had every drug, including Lynparza, proton beam radiation, now on third round of chemo with Docetaxel/Carboplatin combo, and was diagnosed 2 years ago with PCa mets in liver.
Lynparza worked for me for about 9 months and began when Guardant360 liquid biopsy revealed an ATM defect. Took Lynparza before any of my chemos.
Thanks for your input! Even if it only works 9 months we will be happy. If this fails he might be will to try the chemo again, this time with the docetaxel and platinum based chemo combo. Right now we are praying that he can do ok with Lynparza. So much easier than all the trips for chemo and IV fluids every couple days... we never give up hope!
