As previously mentioned, my Jeff’s PSA values went up to 158. The PET scan revealed a “slight increase” in mets, but at this point Dr. Kwon isn’t hugely alarmed.
Jeff has had 2 infusions of the carboplatin/cabazitaxel chemo.
It can take up to 4 infusions of the carboplatin to see results and even longer for the cabazitaxel.
So while there wasn’t a glowing report, there also wasn’t anything to be terribly concerned about … (yet?)
Should PSA values continue to rise by the end of January/February and if a repeat PET scan shows further progression, the genetic testing Jeff did, showed he has a couple of mutations going on … these mutations may have qualified him for a couple different treatments.
“Guardant 360 genetic testing obtained on October 14, 2021 noted CHEK 2 and BRCA 2 genetic mutation with high tumor burden for which he may qualify for potential treatment with a PARP inhibitor or immunotherapy.”
Jeff and I joked that I didn’t even cry this time ❤️
Kwon found it promising that Jeff is feeling well.
