My first injection 3+ months ago was with Lupron. When I got my second injection last week I was given Trestar. The PA said it was a common thing to interchange the two due to costs of the drug or availability at the time. Is it indeed a common practice and are there any cons with this practice?

Thanks for the post - I've never heard of "Trelstar." I would've thought that it was a telecommunications company...heck these days, maybe it is: "Get a Trelstar injection and get unlimited data for 3 months!...."
ekirkland: I wish I had an answer for you. I've just been on Lupron for about three years. Injections every four months...but my PSA is slowly climbing. The last result was 2.9. I'm hoping that fenbendazole might lower that number.
Get a car with every other injection? Great deal.....

Trelstar and Lupron Depot both contain drugs that belong to a class of medications called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. Trelstar contains the drug triptorelin, while Lupron Depot contains the drug leuprolide. They both do the same thing, lowering testosterone availablity. Different drugs, same effect, similar side effects. I’m not a medical or pharmaceutical expert, just a novice and I’m on Zoladex (Goserelin), different drug same outcome. There are a few more. I hope this helps put your mind at ease.

I can honestly say, myself at least, have never heard if that regiment. I had a six month massive dose of Lupron. shots go, that it. But everyone different. Keep asking questions, someone may have answer. Only way to find out if your doctor is correct. They are all different, from what I see ,read. No two the same. Scary.Be well
Good Luck
Ekirkland,Just wanted to add, that from posts I am seeing lately, quite a few men, seem to feel as I do. We are scared to death, they say we are dying, bor will if we do not do what they say, but posts I see suggest, not a lot of men seem to have high degree if faith in treatment options. And not being in medical field, what do we know.
6 months of Lupron, took the man out of me, sort of like, treatment worse tgan problem. My numbers, testosterone and PSA negligble. But it became quality of life, and libido not the problem. Just would like energy and be man again, let chips fall where they may. There is zero testosterone in me. I have taken steps to change that, not a wise decision, shall find out soon. Doing two month bloodwork, track, see how I feel and see what happens. Heck, just my decision, why not, it means that much to me.
Keep ya posted
