"In the current study, scientists investigated the non-AR functions of HOXB13, finding that the transcription factor has an entirely separate function in suppressing lipid biosynthesis, as part of the body’s normal defense against cancer. However, as prostate cancer cells lose their lineage and become treatment-resistant, they also lose expression of the prostate-specific HOXB13, resulting in a marked increase in lipid biosynthesis that can fuel cancer metastases."

hi John. It's a scientific study so at this point it doesn't have real world, actionable application to anyone with pCA and won't anytime soon. As to whether or not it impacts you or could impact you, that's a Q for your MO.
yeah I saw that too. Here's some info for you in general. Phase 2 trials usually take a couple years and are designed to adjust dosage. Then assuming success, on to phase 3 which are larger randomized trials and take another 2-3 years. Assuming that's successful, the drug company completes a new drug application aka NDA, to the FDA where it's typical to take another 2-3 years to be reviewed and approved. Once all of that is complete, the drug company "may" move on to request inclusion of Prostate cancer which requires additional rigor, though I'm not clear on the steps and duration.
So this drug is still years away from approval for breast cancer. I wish it all moved faster but it doesn't. Having said that, it would only apply to about 30% of men who would have the genetic defect of which we all would only hope we had if in fact the drug is a cure.
I like your enthusiasm. Consider checking Pub Med. Tall Allen posts research that is both new and further down the road. You can read info both old and new. Note the options down the right side of the page.
Joihn 4803 my man, Nice find of information in that article. I disagree with swwags.."not real world actionable application?" seems a bit harsh. I do agree it will take much time to develop and to ask your MO, but keep hope alive man, we are all in this together.Wings aka Dan in so Cal.. Northwestern Wildcats roar!
No problemlo appreciate your post, I see now your thoughts, and direction ,you are correct as it was, Maybe like Jackson Browe's song....Time is the conqueror, but maybe We will be conquerors of this beast one day
I hate to say it but despite not listening to the J. Browne Everyman album for decades these somber words from the album have come to my mind a few times since my dx:
