Approved for Xofigo

My husband had his first Xofigo treatment last Thursday and he is feeling good no side effects at this moment!Plan is one every month for 6 months. Question I have is his labs came back day after treatment and his PSA had gone from 346.00 in May to 447. now. Oncologist called and is researching the possible other treatment to go with Xofigo. Has anyone have info or personal experience with Xofigo and another treatment at same time? Or do you wait till done with Xofigo! He is still on Lupron and of course Exgeva. Thanks in advance.

Xofigo does not lower the PSA value. Therefore you would have to watch the PSA value rising for the next six months. As long as your husband takes Xgeva, he could try Apalutamide to lower the PSA value while getting Xofigo. If this does not work he has to agree to a chemo.

Thank you! He has been on Exgeva since 12/2016. Yes I agree about Apalutamide. The position on chemo is iffy. I am guessing it would depend on survival time gained by doing it.

Here's everything I know about combining treatments with Xofigo:

It's a little soon to evaluate xofigo's affect on PSA.

I had 3 infusions of Xofigo last fall and my PSA rose dramatically (up to 250), so I know that the radiation does not lower PSA. I quit the Xofigo after a CAT Scan showed increased lesions. I am not advocating stopping, just sharing my experience. If you can add another drug, go for it

He will be under watchful eye of two oncologists and we can stop at anytime! Thanks for your info

Did the Xofigo help with the bone pain?

Hello,As I have just experienced Lupron effects, and no other meds, cannot help with reference to med you mentioned. Sorry bout that. But question for you, PSA numbers you mentioned, certain you read correctly, generally they would be 3.46 and now 4.47, to my knowledge, anyway. Sorry to concern you with last sentence, more for my info than anything and if out of line, apologize.

Best of luck to all concerned. Be as well as possible.
