Xofigo what are side effects?

Looking for feed back on Xofigo treatment! Been on Lupron & Exgeva. Zytiga with Predisone added after two years. PSA rising last several month now over 300! looking to treat with least side effects! Quality of life

Diagnosis was 12/2016 PSA over 1,000. PSA has never gone below 40

Very few serious side effects. The most common adverse drug reactions (> 10%) in patients receiving Xofigo were nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and peripheral edema. The most common hematologic laboratory abnormalities (≥ 10%) were anemia, lymphocytopenia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and neutropenia. (see page 7):

Looks like lots of trouble spread over 6 mo for chance of average extra life of 3 mo. Is it really worth it ??

Side effects are almost entirely low grade, if they occur. Major benefit is pain relief, and improved QOL. That's about as much life extension as any mCRPC therapy provides.

That's what I have seen for life extension...but pain relief might make it worthwhile.

All of the medicines that extend life also improve QOL.

Xofigo works only on bones.

You should also investigate psma treatment if you have reason to believe your prostate cancer is not exclusively limited to bones.

And then there is bipolar Androgen Therapy that can resensitize you to your current therapy.
