1 YEAR AFTER RADIOTHERAPY

As I control blood every 3 months, so I took it on January 8, 2021. PSA <0.014, testosterone 13.9 nmol / L. Am I cured now, how often should I control PSA, what are my chances of getting cancer back? I have 100 questions that may be difficult to answer. Do you have any advice?

best regards

There are a number of nomogrammes that can give you an idea of your chances for remaining undetectable. The online mskcc doesn't have one for post primary (or definitive) RT. It has one for salvage RT post RP. Regarding the periodicity of testing, an adaptive schedule vs a fixed framed one is preferable. That is, if like now you measure undetectable add some extra time to the next test (say 4 instead of 3 months). If you see PSA going up, do the opposite.

Since everyone responds differently to Pca treatments it's hard to say. Enjoy your success with radiation.

As I understand it, you had salvage RT with hormone therapy and your PSA is undetectable for now. Hopefully, you are cured, but you will not know that for sure until after hormone therapy is finished. If PSA stays undetectable after testosterone recovers, you will have a better idea.

I had adjuvent radiotherapy, i’m hormone free 1 year.First injection 8/19,second 11/2019.My testosteron is now in normal level. What is difference between adjuvant Rt and salvage Rt?

Then that's great! Adjuvant means immediately after the prostatectomy; salvage means waiting for the PSA to rise before RT begins.

Hey Brano975. I’ve had the same PSA as you for almost six years now. So if one is lucky ? one can go many years undetectable. There is no cure for #4 . I test tri monthly too. Live for today . We don’t want to live under a cloud of shame . It took me 3 years of mental anguish until I finally accepted my lot .

So live with gusto of what you love . Be thankful for the clear status . Keep rockin .😎

Ditto to Whimpy's post above. Once you have the big C it's like having an ex-wife......never get rid of it/her... But you can live with it.......... until she takes you back to court.....

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
