With all the interest in my last post I thought some might be interested in this:

Maybe someone out there could explain the difference between niclosamide and Fenbendazole, they are both used for deworming dogs.

Thanks, I knew you could come up with information I failed to find. Your the best.

Niclosamide is not absorbed enough to reach therapeutic levels in the blood. This is the main reason it failed in a couple of studies.

The doctors at UC Davis are using a modified niclosamide which is absorbed and can reach therapeutic levels in blood. They had some good results in phase II trials. There are 2 clinical trials at UC Davis recruiting patients, one for enza and niclo and the other for abi and niclo.

Be sure to get a liver panel done periodically. They are hepatotoxic.

Yes my liver enzymes ALT and AST rose when I took fenbendazole every day. Cleared up when I changed to two daily doses for half the week, then paused the second half of the week.

Most don't seem to have liver issues with fenben, though.

May I ask how you are doing on fenben?

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply to Magnus1964

Short answer. Diagnosed metastatic 8/2018. Started Lupron 11/2018. PSA dropped from 200 to 0.7-0.9 through 4/2020.

Started fenben 2/2020. Added other supplements. Liver enzymes ALT and AST skyrocketed in April and May, and PSA climbed to 1.3 and 1.4 in May and June. I had been taking fenben once every day since Feb., so I stopped everything for two weeks (not Lupron), and resumed with two doses daily of fenben for half the week, then pausing for second half. Liver enzymes returned to normal, PSA dropped to 0.8, then 0.7 by August through October.

I had an Aximin Pet scan in January before starting fenben, then another Aximin Pet, and an MRI of prostate on Aug. 6. Improvement all around. Prostate has shrunk considerably and uptake noticeably less all around.

Hard to say what did what, but I'm forging on. I have also made radical diet and consumption changes over the last two years and have shed 30 pounds.

Thanks for your response. Sounds like your doing well. Posts from other on this forum recommended two days on-three days off fenben. I guess liver enzymes have to monitored carefully.

Thank again. Fenben is on my radar.

You're welcome. Yes monitor liver readings but you may see no problem. Don't expect quick results from fenben. I haven't used niclosamide, as I believe it requires an Rx in USA.

BTY niclosamide does not require a n RX in the States.

Really? Do you have a source and brand you could post? When I search I come up with praziquantel, another tapeworm medicine.

Thanks!

There are a few brands listed on Amazon.

Metformin+ Statin+ Doxycycline +Melatonin + CBD oil ...and may be ?Mebendazole/Niclosamide

They block different pathways and as a group can be formidable force to slow growth

of Cancer cells. Should be used under medical supervision.

For me, it has been beneficial ...HbA1C is 5.3 and LDL went down to 69 with Total Cholesterol dwindled down to 134. CRP 0.3 ...Of Course along with plant based foods and herbs/spices. And last but not the least 4 mile a day walk.

No, at some time I was taking some of them.

If you take melatonin daily, long term then does your body stop producing it naturally?

LearnAll profile image
LearnAll in reply to GeorgeGlass

Its possible. But otherwise also, as we age, less and less Melatonin our Brain produces due to shrinkage of Pineal gland. That is why old people do not get much sleep . Babies sleep 16 to 18 hours.

so i guess that it has no other bad effects of taking daily, thats good

Hey Magnus! Was wondering why all the dogs in my neighborhood were disappearing. Dewormed dog meat should be added to everyone's diet. I'll let my neighbor pay for my treatment. Chianti anyone?

Monte’s response intended as humor recalled my early days in the hospital field in Kansas City Kansas.( KCK is the smaller neighbor to the city of Kansas City Missouri.)In the 1970s KCK worked with the feds to to relocate Hmong people who were refugees from the Vietnamese war. Dog meat was in their diet. Soon after the relocation stray dogs started disappearing from the streets of KCK. Hmong men were going out at night with their bows and arrows and collecting dog meat for the kitchen table.People quickly learned not to allow their dogs to go out without being on a leash.

Magnus, Niclosamide inhibits glucose uptake, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and anaerobic metabolism, whereas fenbendazole primarily disturbs microtubulin and therefore the ability to undergo cell division. Cheers, Phil
