Has anyone been involved with a Research Study with Niaparib in combination with Abiraterone Acetate and Prednisone? I am considering It. It is double blind phase 3 study. I am 77 in 2001 radical prostatectomy. 2009 came back. 2010 trial with Avastin, nearly died. 2010 started Lupron on and off till Sept 2016. CT scan showed enlarged repartineal lymph node. recent bone and ct scan showed metastasis in lower back. The VA offered this or just enzalutamide.
Any thoughts

Sorry to hear about your experience with Avastin. That sounds difficult. It sounds like you had a long time with with Lupron.
Not quite the same study, but my dad is in a double-blind study with Olaparib and Abiraterone with Predisone. He has no genetic mutations we know the Olaparib may not benefit him (plus its a double blind study). They reason we decided to go this route is because we knew that the Abiraterone will help him, regardless of the other drugs. It was his next line of treatment regardless. We liked that the study provided extra monitoring, blood tests, and more bone scans. It meant he would be visiting the doctor more and they would be keeping and eye on him and his side effects. I am not sure if this will influence your decision.
So far all his going well with him and his body is responding well. No side effects and the doctors suspect that be might actually be on Olaparib because of the strange aftertaste he is experiencing.
Glad to hear from you. Hope your Dad does great. My OC talked about a PARP study. Do be part of this study, I was told that you have to be BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 positive. I presume the cancer has spread to his bones. I am glad that he is getting Zitiga, I know the cost for these drugs are a bit high. My study is being done through the VA. I am routing for you father to have a great outcome. The study is great for all the testing that is done, however the possible side effects are not so great. Best of luck
