14 year journey

I was diagnosed in Oct 2006. 14 years ago, just after I turned 51. My base PSA was 38.8, GS score was 4+3=7. I did the dual radiation thing with the seeds and the external beam (IMRT). Then after 5 years I started Lupron intermittently. 1 yr on 1 yr off. Next I did the immunotherapy treatment Provenge. Then I went on zytiga and xgeva. Next was the RA223 treatment. I was switch to Xtandi and firmigon and xgeva. My psa has been up to 44 and as low as .02. The last time it went above 40 I started the docetaxel chemotherapy. I have had 5 of those and my 6th will be next week. Still working, bowling, gardening, playing with grandchildren and enjoying life. This has been a rough road but I will keep fighting this disease until the bitter end. I thank the good lord above for my time on this earth and I cherish every day that I wake up. Everyone keep up the good fight and don’t give up.

I am located in Austin, TX. I did most of my treatments through Austin Urology. I used their advanced team and their RO. When they did all they could do they turned me over to Texas Oncology. My MO then reran all scans and reviewed my records. He liked everything that had been done and started me on the docetaxel Chemotherapy with prednisone and continued the Xgeva and Lupron injections. Been seeing him the last 4 1/2 months and get my 6th treatment next week. As far as doctors names I would recommend any doctor at either place.

Indeed, Thank the lord for each day !

Wow ZackD - your road has been much rougher than my 18 year journey. Diagnosed at 54. Been on Lupron for about 18 months and PSA creeping up - now 1.8 with a test today. Question - how do you pick between Zytiga and Xtandi?

Thanks

I let my Dr. pick which one to use. Xtandi was first then Zytiga and the Zytiga didn't seem to help me very much.
